Pitchers and Catchers Report


On Saturday all of the Phils pitchers and catchers reported to Spring Training in Clearwater,FL at Bright House Works Complex also home to the Phillies 'A' affiliate the Clearwater Thrashers. The rest of last year's world champions will join them on them in the next few days. Here are some notes from Day 1 in Clearwater:
Micheal Zagurski was back after having Tommy-John surgery. Although he wants and is trying to make the team realistically
The Phillies signed 34-year old Miguel Cairo who played with the Mariners last year to a minor league contract. He is a long shot to make the team, but with Chase Utley's Opening Day status in question he'll have an opportunity to prove himself this spring. He will join the team tomorrow. (Philly.com)
The Phillies tabbed Cole Hamels the Opening Day starter. Hamels was the 2008 World Series MVP
The Phillies first Spring Training Game in the Grapefruit League will be on February 25,2009 against the Pittsburgh Pirates at 1:05 pm eastern time. Full schedule listed below.
